Germany was first documented before AD 100. Beginning in the 10th century until 1806, German territories formed a part of the Holy Roman Empire.
Germany, officially the Federal Republic of Germany is bordered by the North Sea, Denmark and the Baltic Sea in the north; to the east by Poland and the Czech Republic; to the south by Austria and Switzerland; and to the west by France, Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands. Germany is a federal parliamentary republic of sixteen states and member of the United Nations, NATO, G7, G8, G20, OECD and the WT.
