PROFILES: Ioana Dicu, Bucharest, Romania

Ioana Dicu is an English student at Lexis Mozart. " Ioana has been a Lexis student since she was in primary school. At present, she's a B - Senior student with exceptional writing skills and an interest in computers." (Mrs. Florentina Tudor, Lexis branch director)

In her essay for the Lexis ... and the whole world is yours! contest, Ioana proves a well-organized writer. In a simple style, she mentions different fields of activity people cannot do without the English language.

"Frankly speaking, it is highly essential to know the language for communication. ... In this computer age, English is the only language that any one can understand. So to say, it has become as an ideal language for expressing our feelings. Unless we have fluency in English, it would not be possible to use a computer. ...
But not only the computer world is dominated by English language.
  • tourism
  • education  "More and more people are leaving their countries to study abroad. ... Without a medium level of English the studies are impossible. Education enhances the role of the English language."
  •  "The Internet world is an English world. It is very hard and almost impossible to translate each and very relevant web page in other languages, despite the fact the there are attempts to do so. In e-commerce or in education, like I said before, English is bound to grow. Imagine a networking site like Facebook or Twitter in some other language than English? It will be a very funny way of networking around the world."
Definitely, no other language can take us around the world. Networking in another language? Yes. But just locally.
LEXIS TOP STUDENTS has reached a conclusion: Ioana is going to be successful in one of these activities: photography, writing or IT.
Good luck!
